The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) successfully delivered the Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation Workshop for Ukrainian Diaspora Organizations on 26–27 June 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The intensive two-day workshop took place in the Ukrainian Consultation Centre Düsseldorf, established and operationalised within the CORE UA Project. It has equipped more than 25 Ukrainian community leaders and civil society representatives from Dusseldorf and North Rhine-Westphalia with practical fundraising tools, grant-writing techniques, and resource mobilization strategies essential to sustaining operations and expanding services for displaced Ukrainians.
The workshop provided comprehensive training on identifying and accessing funding sources, developing compelling grant proposals, diversifying revenue streams, and building organizational financial sustainability. Participants gained hands-on experience with fundraising methodologies, learned sector best practices, and discussed the approaches to the development of actionable plans for strengthening the financial capacity of their organisations.
The acting Consul General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf opened the workshop with his remarks, emphasizing the essential role of well-resourced diaspora organisations in supporting Ukrainians in Germany and contributing to Ukraine's recovery. He highlighted the synergies between diplomatic efforts and civil society fundraising, underscoring how strengthened organisational capacity directly translates to enhanced support for displaced populations.
The workshop addressed the critical challenge facing Ukrainian diaspora organisations: securing adequate, sustainable funding while maintaining operational independence. Participants acquired skills in prospect research, donor cultivation, impact measurement, and reporting - essential competencies for organisations seeking to expand their reach and effectiveness in serving Ukrainian communities across Germany.
This event underscores ICMPD's commitment to strengthening the financial and organisational capacity of Ukrainian civil society in Germany. By equipping diaspora organisations with professional skills, the workshop directly supports their ability to sustain and expand critical services for displaced Ukrainians and meaningfully contribute to Ukraine's recovery. It once again affirmed the Ukrainian Consultation Centre's place as a key platform for advancing the organisational capacity of Ukrainian organisations across Germany.
