On 13 June 2026, the Ukrainian Consultation Centre held an exchange meeting with Ukrainian servicemen and veterans with Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs, Ruslan Prykhodko, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf and Förderkreis der ukrainischen Veteranen NRW e.V.
The discussion focused on key issues affecting Ukrainian servicemen and veterans receiving treatment and support in Germany. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions directly to Deputy Minister Prykhodko and receive answers on practical concerns. Topics included the Military Medical Commission procedure, payments and military-related benefits, administrative challenges, psychological support, rehabilitation opportunities, and the practical concerns raised by volunteers supporting veterans in NRW. Participants also received information about support tools developed by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs and other available official resources.
This step, together with the support expressed by Deputy Minister Prykhodko, is expected to strengthen cooperation and further support advocacy for Ukrainian veterans in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The meeting was received very positively and showed the strong need for this kind of direct exchange.
