On 20.08.2026, the Ukrainian Consultation Centre in Düsseldorf hosted an exchange meeting with Ukrainian servicemen and veterans, veteran entrepreneurs, representatives of the Lviv City Administration, IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein, as well as local support organisations.
The meeting was organised in cooperation with Förderkreis der ukrainischen Veteranen NRW e.V.
The event focused on reintegration through entrepreneurship and created space for practical exchange between those currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation in NRW and veterans who have already built businesses after returning to civilian life. Participants discussed first steps in starting a business, available support programmes, and the different forms of assistance offered to veterans and their families in Ukraine.
A central part of the meeting was the personal experience shared by Ukrainian veteran entrepreneurs, who spoke about their transition from military service to civilian life, the challenges they faced, and the support that helped them move forward. Representatives of the Lviv City Administration also presented available programmes for veterans and their families, while participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own plans and experiences.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of community, professional networks, and practical support during the transition to civilian life. Entrepreneurship was discussed as one possible path that can provide structure, new professional goals, and opportunities to build a future after military service.
Overall, the meeting created a positive and supportive space for open dialogue, practical information, and new connections. It helped participants learn more about available opportunities and showed how cooperation between Ukrainian and German organisations can support veterans and servicemen on their path towards reintegration.
