On 1 December 2025, the Ukrainian Consultation Centre in Düsseldorf hosted the information meeting “Ask the Consul” for Ukrainian military personnel in cooperation with the Consulate General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf and Förderkreis der ukrainischen Veteranen NRW e.V.
The event brought together Ukrainian military personnel, veterans, and their family members currently staying in NRW during medical treatment and rehabilitation. Mr Volodymyr Ushko, Vice-Consul, answered questions on Ukrainian consular matters, while Olesya Cherepynska-Schmidt of Förderkreis der ukrainischen Veteranen NRW e.V. shared guidance related to the German system.
The discussion focused on key topics including consular services, the remote Military Medical Commission process, German and Ukrainian medical documentation, access to benefits in Ukraine, challenges related to German bureaucracy, military salary during medical treatment, severe injury status, and available support from the Ukrainian Consultation Centre.
The event also created an opportunity for participants to meet, exchange experiences, and build connections in a supportive atmosphere.
